Update from Oceana (We made it to 2nd place in the country!)

Job well-done Planeteers! But, never fear there’s plenty more work to be done next semester.

The email I received…

I wanted to reach out to say hello and thank you again for your help with our spring photo petition drive. Your event was one of the most successful in the country. Our records indicate that you collected 141 photo petitions, with 137 coming out fully usable for us. That’s really fantastic! Only Lafayette in Pennsylvania produced more than Kent State did (Lafayette gathered 166). Coming in second in the country (out of several dozen schools) is pretty awesome: you should guys should be proud of a job very well done.

Attached is a sample of how they will look when we turn them in to your senators and the Obama administration. I only included one page from your event (your event is 15 pages: too long to email!). We’re going to divide them all up by state before turning over to the Senate, and of course they will be combined with the thousands of other photos we have received from across the country.

It is extremely likely that we’ll still be working on this photo petition drive in the fall, so we would be very interested in coordinating with you again in the coming months.

Thanks again for your incredible help.

Here’s what the pages will look like in the presentation to Congress….
