Volunteer Opportunities in the Kent, Ohio area

The Autism Society of Ohio, Greater Akron

is proud to sponsor and host the Lose the Training Wheels Program. This is a 5-day camp that teaches individuals (8 years and up) with disabilities to ride a 2 wheel conventional bicycle without training wheels. In order to make this program a success, we are seeking 80 volunteers to serve as spotters for our 40 campers.

When: July 30th – Aug 3rd

Where: Copley High School Auxiliary Gym

Volunteers must be at least 16 years of age with their own transportation, able to attend a Volunteer Orientation & Training Session on Sunday, July 29th at 4pm at Copley High School and be willing to get some exercise for a great cause! Great opportunity to volunteer as a group, team or family as well!

Movers & Groovers 2012

are seeking volunteers to help freshman move in on August 23rd. Perks of being a Mover & Groover include: a free t-shirt, if you live on campus you will be able to move in on August 22nd (free of charge, and you will have an opportunity to advertise your organization to first year students! Campus Kitchen at Kent State University

will meet tomorrow (Wednesday, June 20) at 12:30pm in the Beall Hall Kitchen (2nd floor). Help cook meals for guests at Kent Social Services and Center of Hope! Can’t make it on Wednesdays? Contact Jessica Kalar at jkalar@kent.edu or Lisa Hofer@kent.edu for information on other volunteer and learning opportunities associated with the kitchen. Join the Campus Kitchen and the Nutrition Outreach Program on Saturdays at the Haymaker Farmers Market – Franklin St. in Kent. We are cooking and educating.

Seeking Leaders for Freshman Day of Service!!

We are looking for folks to serve as leaders for several groups of new Kent State students during a day of community service on August 25th! You’ll have the opportunity to meet new students, serve our community, enjoy a free lunch, and learn more about KSU and activities that will assist new Kent Staters transition into their new home-away-from-home.

The Annual Volunteer Fair

will take place on Thursday, September 13th 2012 from 11:00am until 2:00pm in the KSU Student Center. Student Organizations (with a service component) and Community Partners will have the opportunity to have a table during the even– keep an eye out for more details regarding the registration process.
